Our Air Source Heat Pump is live!

We are happy to announce that our air source heat pump is up and running! It’s working well and has been providing space heating at Caxton House since 21st December.

Amazing work from Power Up North London’s Tanuja Pandit and Caxton House’s Sue Collins and the culmination of 2 years of dedicated work on grant applications and reporting, planning applications, supplier selection and procurement of capital equipment, installation and commissioning.

We’re putting together a case study of our experiences and learning and hope it’ll be a useful blueprint for other community buildings looking to decarbonise.

This project would not have been possible without the support from funders: Biffa Award, Mayor’s London Community Energy Fund (LCEF), the Islington Community Energy Fund (ICEF)and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding from Islington Council, and the expertise provided by Entrust, Crew Energy, Energy Systems Catapult, AHMM Architects, Hoare Lea Technical Consultants and Power Up North London volunteers.

Our new Air Source Heat Pump is part of our overall efforts to decarbonise Caxton House! We’re aiming to be carbon neutral by 2030, see our progress to date below:
