About Us

Caxton House Community Centre is a vibrant community hub based near Archway in the London Borough of Islington. We host a number of weekly services and activities across a wide range of themes, including health and well-being, employability and training, environment and advice. Aims & Objectives

We are committed to the goals of community development, in which the people of the neighbourhood are responsibly involved in solving problems, rather than as recipients of services provided by others.

We are concerned with the fulfilment of individuals, the growth of self-confidence and the acceptance of responsibility.

Caxton House will be autonomous, and have a variety of projects that cross-fertilise each other and involve all age groups of the community.

We shall be active in working and co-ordinating with other groups and agencies in the area. We expect to be involved in looking ahead in planning to meet the needs of the people.

We are determined to avoid concentrating on symptoms to the exclusion of causes.

  • From it’s conception in the 1940s, to a new site on a former workhouse in the 1970s , to a vibrant Community Hub today - Caxton House has had a storied history in the local area. Find our more here.

  • Caxton House Community Centre is a Community Hub in partnership with Hornsey Lane Estate Community Association.

    Community Hubs provide a focal point and facilities to foster greater local community activity and bring residents, the local business community, and smaller organisations together to improve the quality of life in their areas.

    In Islington, a Community Hub is a building that is accessible to all groups in the neighbourhood or area that it serves. It is a multi-purpose Community Centre providing a range of high quality and cost effective services to the local community, with the potential to develop new services in response to changing community needs.
