Vacancy: Community Development Officer
Led by Octopus Community Network (Octopus), the Stay Well, Live Well project aims to help address health inequalities experienced by some of the most vulnerable communities in Islington. The project’s aims and outcomes will be achieved by fostering strong neighbourhood collaborations through a quality driven inter-agency approach. It will place the neighbourhood’s Community Hub at the centre of this work. With a remit to join-up local services to maximise the offer to local residents, you will work directly with the Community Hub to improve the quality of life for local residents, and grow the potential of smaller local organisations.
The post of the part-time Community Development Officer (Health Promotion) offers an exciting opportunity for you to join an existing team and to excel in a community development role that has a strong health and wellbeing focus. You will take a leading role in engaging and supporting Community Health Champion volunteers associate with the project and with evaluation of the project’s activities.
The position provides you with an opportunity to expand your community development expertise by building upon an established programme of highly regarded work that Octopus undertakes in Islington.
It is essential that you have excelled at working within diverse inner-city communities and can demonstrate how you have previously implemented and delivered community-led, grass-roots projects that focus on health and wellbeing. Your ability to foster good community partnerships is also key to achieving community buy in and raising the profile of the project.
