Vacancy: Stay Well, Live Well Community Development Officer
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – HEALTH PROMOTION
£26,000 per annum plus 3% pension contribution
Full-time (37.5 hour per week)
Job reference 17/03
Led by Octopus Community Network (Octopus), the Stay Well, Live Well project aims to help address health inequalities experienced by some of the most vulnerable communities in Islington. The project’s aims and outcomes will be achieved by fostering strong neighbourhood collaborations through a quality driven inter-agency approach. It will place the neighbourhood’s Community Hub at the centre of this work. With a remit to join-up local services to maximise the offer to local residents, you will work directly with the Community Hub to improve the quality of life for local residents, and grow the potential of smaller local organisations.
The post of Community Development Officer (Health Promotion) offers an exciting opportunity for you to excel in a community development role that has a strong health and wellbeing focus. You will take a leading role in neighbourhood based partnership building and participatory community consultations, which will put you in a strong position to support the implementation of Neighbourhood Plans in three of the project’s targeted areas.
The position provides you with an opportunity to expand your community development expertise by building upon an established programme of highly regarded work that Octopus undertakes in Islington.
It is essential that you have excelled at working within diverse inner-city communities and can demonstrate how you have previously implemented and delivered community-led, grass-roots projects that focus on health and wellbeing. Your ability to foster good community partnerships is also key to achieving community buy in and raising the profile of the project.
